RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the implementation of storage and SAN infrastructure based on business requirements and adhering to tight operations, security, and procedural models
Under minimal supervision, this position performs a high level of technical expertise to support complex Storage Devices including SAN, NAS and Tier I, II, III solutions
Responsible for the ongoing maintenance, security, and availability of Storage and SAN infrastructure based on business requirements and adhering to tight operations, security, and procedural models
Ability to operate in complex, highly-secure, and highly-available, operations environments and interact with the technology domain experts required to maintain those environments
This position requires a candidate with strong hands on technical engineer professional with business acumen
Responsible for mentoring junior team members, developing ITIL procedures and best practices standards
Work with other Engineering Disciplines to develop Infrastructure Building Blocks based Reference Architectures and standards that can be offered as services to our customers
This position requires a dynamic, hard-working and ambitious individual, with excellent oral and written communication skills
Candidates will possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills and have experience working in large enterprise operational environments
Assist in change management processes
Improve the efficiency and help standardize current processes
Respond to and resolve incident and problem tickets
Document and thoroughly understand the application architecture, system configuration across platforms and interface with various systems and use this knowledge effectively to resolve issues
Work closely with customer support team to communicate the root cause of the outage, duration and recommendations or steps to resolve issues
Resolve application and system configuration issues
Participate in Service Improvement Meetings after an application outage
Respond to general inquiries
Document the incident in the tracking tool
Vendor contact for routine, documented incidents as well as operational problems
Assist database and System administrators to resolve problems and implement new architectures
Provide assistance as required in analyzing the trends and suggesting long-term and short-term improvements
Resolve incidents and problems in accordance within defined guidelines and meet operational level agreements
Implement change requests and meet project deliverables within defined guidelines
Achieve and understand Service Level commitments for all open systems platform
Position will require shift based work hours. Including, but not limited to, weekend and after hour shifts.
Requirements:
Must have four or more years of experience working in SAN/Storage Administration
Must have four or more years of experience working with Net Backup.
Expert knowledge in designing, deploying and supporting Enterprise SAN and NAS storage solutions
Hands on experience with EMC, HDS and IBM Enterprise and Midrange storage arrays
Hands on experience with Brocade and Cisco SAN Switches and Routers. This position understands routed data and the impact on the technical environment and routed fabrics for data sharing
Hands on experience with Isilon or NetApp NAS storage arrays
Experience with UNIX (AIX, Solaris and Linux), VMware, Windows operating environments and managing storage allocation, setup and path management software (Native MPIO, EMC PowerPath, HDS HDLM)
Extensive storage networking background preferred
Management of Thin Provisioning environments preferred
Scripting experience and understanding in both Windows and UNIX environments
Ability to write technical design and build documentations for all aspects of a technical infrastructure
Must have experience in system monitoring techniques and tools supporting unattended operations and daily storage-related SAN/NAS alerts and activities Must be willing to go on On-call support rotation
Ability to analyze, troubleshoot and solve issues with storage stack (Hosts, SAN switches and Storage Devices)Ability to integrate content from other domain areas and construct final technical design documents
A significant portion of experience should be in a large production, data-center environment
Effective communication and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on customer service
Able to successfully manage multiple concurrent activities and meet timeframes and deliverable
Able to analyze quickly and determine resolution to bring service back up
Able to multi-task in order to meet goal of low MTTR (mean time to repair)
Be able to understand business impact for open systems environment
Must have a technical and business mindset
ISO 9000 and ITIL experience
