To support the growth of Canadian Natural's Horizon Oil Sands, this position may be assigned or require business travel to various contractor workplaces or to the Horizon Oil Sands site during project phases for extended periods.
YOUR OPPORTUNITY:
The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for verifying and producing material takeoffs and also measuring and checking installed quantities for progress measurement, changes, statistics, taxation and valuation while adhering to high standards in a timely manner.
Please Note: This position will require frequent travel to the Horizon Oil Sands site located north of Fort McMurray. Flights and accommodations for travel requirements will be provided.
HOW WILL YOU MAKE YOUR MARK?
o Review estimates to an appropriate level of detail to support the review of contractors claims and change order requests
o Ensure all contractor work meets CNRL standards and procedures
o Analyze contractor claims with regards to installed quantities and scope
o Review and verify total installed quantities for all disciplines including civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation through regular review of contractor work
o Collect and assemble benchmarking data
o Validate installed items for Unit Rate contract progress payments
o Assist contract administrators in measurements for bills of quantities and also assist in tender or bid evaluations
o Verify and record all quantities completed in the field for each type of contract (lump sum, unit price and cost reimbursement)
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Typically 10+ years of related industry experience with a relevant Quantity Surveying Degree or Engineering Degree
o Familiarity with and understanding of:
o Various engineering disciplines such as civil, structural, piping, electrical, etc.
o Construction/ engineering drawings such as PFDs, P&IDs, plot plans, one- line diagrams, isometrics, etc.
o Estimating software such as KBase (Icarus), in addition to Microsoft Office Suite
o Estimating packages
